This year, the EBU's new media team behind the Eurovision Song Contest put massive effort to promote the event through the official video channel on YouTube.com/eurovision. Right now, the channel hosts almost 500 videos, including historic footage, exclusive backstage material, music videos and interviews with the contesants of this year's competition. This year, more than 20,000,000 video hits were counted on the channel, which peaked as the world's second most popular channel earlier this week.

The official Eurovision Song Contest website and other new media productions are initiated by the Eurovision TV Interactive Unit. Nicoletta Iacobacci, head of the unit, says: "We are extremely excited to see so much interest in our channel on YouTube and to see their commitment to promote Europe's favourite TV-show on the internet."
