Wrap-up: Lena did Germany proud

09 June 2010 at 15:04 CEST

Who is she?

Pretty much out of nowhere – apart from the homemade dance videos and a few attempts with the school band – she conquered the audience’s heart. “I didn’t tell my friends about my first casting, so there wouldn’t be any stupid comments if I got kicked out straight away,” she said before the contest, thinking of her terrible stage fright. Even though Lena danced regularly during her childhood – from ballet to Jazz and Hip Hop – she made her way to music without piano lessons or vocal training. But she got her chance, grabbed it and developed rapidly.

Right after the German national final, her single Satellite went already to the top of all the most important download portals. Lena even created a new German download record: never before has a song sold so well in such a short time!

"Lena will be the greatest talent from our country since many years. Doesn't matter which place she will have in Oslo. This is only the start. I love her voice, accent and performance. She's so smart, sweet, natural, unique and very funny!" said one fan from Germany.

"I think Germany has done itself proud with this one, no reason for embarrassment in sight. Lena will stand out in a positive way, her song is very 2010, upbeat, cheerful and special. Well done Mr Raab, well done the German public and very well done Lena!" said another supporter from her home country.

And were they right - it did very well! And it's doing even better now when it's invaded charts all over Europe, becoming another pan-European hit emerging from Europe's favourite TV-show.
