Will Lena successfully defend her title?

16 December 2010 at 16:59 CET

Lena, the winner of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, was earlier chosen to defend her title in Düsseldorf next year. It is the first time since the 1950s that a winner comes back to the Song Contest the year after winning to get a second consecutive trophy.

In detail, there will the three shows which will be called Unser Song Für Deutschland (Our song for Germany) to find the home country's entry. On the 31st of January and on the 7th of February, there will be two Semi Finals which will be broadcast on private TV channel ProSieben. In each of the two shows, Lena will present 6 songs of which 3 will reach the final. Only televoting will prevail, but there will be a jury who will give comments on the songs. They will have no voting power though. The head of the jury will be Stefan Raab, Lena's close mentor.

The final will take place on the 18th of February on the main channel of ARD with 6 songs participating. Also here, the winner will be decided by 100% televoting.

The 3 shows will be presented - just like last year - by Sabine Heinrich and Matthias Opdenhövel.

There will be a close collaboration again between ARD, ProSieben and ARD's youth radio channels, so that the songs participating will get the maximum exposure before and after the shows.
