Who's the favourite artist to represent Spain?

25 October 2012 at 20:30 CEST

Although the Spanish broadcaster, TVE, hasn't announced yet the system they will use to select the Spanish performer for 2013, the Eurovision fans and experts in Spain have returned their veredict. Starting in August and after a final, a play-off, five semifinals, 70 days and 202,896 votes, the results of The Internal Election 2013 show that the ideal artist to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest is MalĂș.

MalĂș, who right now is one of the coaches in the talent show The Voice, was voted ahead of MĂłnica Naranjo, winner of the first edidion of this poll, the band La Oreja de Van Gogh, the male soloist Pablo AlborĂĄn, and last year's winner of the poll, Chenoa.

In the past, MalĂș has been a regular guest on many programs related to the Eurovision Song Contest, most recently during Pastora Soler song selection show this year, where she collaborated with Pastora and Vanesa Martin in the song Vamos. One year before in one of the national selection shows for the Eurovision Song Contest in DĂŒsseldorf she declared herself openly receptive to the possibility of representing Spain in the future.

Not only fans and visitors to the website have participated in the poll, but also a 25-member expert jury which included the last four Spanish representatives in Eurovision, Pastora Soler, LucĂa PĂ©rez, Daniel Diges and Soraya Arnelas. Pastora and Soraya themselves were ranked 9th and 12th respectively in the poll. Their task was to select the 100 final candidates from the 318 which had been nominated by the public.
