Ukraine's latest Eurovision icons: What alyona alyona and Jerry Heil did next
01 November 2024 at 17:00 CETIt was in early February that the names alyona alyona and Jerry Heil first became known to most Eurovision fans, when the pair won Ukraine's national final Vidbir.
The two already established artists had come together to participate with the song Teresa & Maria. And it proved to be so popular, that followers of the Contest knew that these two performers would be ones to watch throughout Eurovision 2024 season.
alyona alyona and Jerry Heil earned that victory at Vidbir thanks in part to a public televote score of 723,297 votes. It's a number that was impressive enough on its own, but even more so when it was revealed by Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne that it had achieved a margin of over 600,000 votes ahead of the song which finished in the runner-up position at the national final.
Our vote-scoring vocalists certainly knew how to make a formidable first impression!
As the latest act to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest, alyona alyona and Jerry Heil found themselves arriving to Malmö with their country's enviable reputation in the competition to uphold.
Ukraine are the only Eurovision participating nation to have qualified from the Semi-Finals on every single one of their attempts. And in the last decade alone, the country has two Eurovision victories to its name.
Any perceived pressure didn't get to our two divas, however, with Teresa & Maria qualifying comfortably to the Grand Final, finishing in second place in the First Semi-Final.
At the Grand Final, the song continued its streak of success, scoring a whopping 453 points and giving Ukraine a podium finish with a third-place result.
It becomes Ukraine's own third-best placing of the past decade, and stands as the country's 6th-best result within its total of 19 participations so far.
Ukraine's history at the Eurovision Song Contest already made for an exhilarating read, and now the names alyona alyona, Jerry Heil, Teresa AND Maria form an integral part of that story!
Since leaving their mark on the Eurovision Song Contest, our diva duo have been making their own ways in music, and continuing to forge the respective journeys that they had been making waves with prior to Malmö.
If you enjoyed the sound of what they brought to the Contest in May, here's a roundup of the music they've been making since:
New music from alyona alyona
Her time with Jerry Heil from Vidbir to Eurovision clearly gave alyona alyona a craving for more collabs!
Since landing Ukraine another respectable finish at the Contest, the performer has released Моє покоління with Vyshebaba and Тільки в твоїх обіймах with KLER.
alyona alyona has also teamed up with the internationally renowned dance troupe NESEMOS.
The Ukrainian group, who are known from seasons of World of Dance and Got Talent around the world, joined the singer in the music video for Тато. The single was released as a touching tribute to alyona alyona's own father.
alyona alyona's most recent single is a solo effort, however. And any new fans that the rap icon picked up in Malmö due to Teresa & Maria will find plenty to enjoy on А що буде, too.
As with her bronze-medal bop, А що буде features an ethereally choral chorus to go alongside the artist's trademark personality-filled rap.
alyona alyona and Jerry Heil's aren't done working together yet, though!
Since Teresa & Maria, the pair have also gotten in the studio to record and release another song. And now that the chapter has closed on their Eurovision experience together, their fans can enjoy the crescendo-building beats of Подоляночка (Get Up).
And speaking of that diva...
New music from Jerry Heil
Eurovision fans following Jerry Heil's musical journey post-Contest will have been pleased to discover what she did next. In a nod from Malmö 2024 to Liverpool 2023, Jerry paired up with one of the 67th Eurovision Song Contest's hosts - Ukrainian artist Julian Sanina - to release a new single together.
WABI-SABI came out at the end of September, and the duo have also released a music video for the collab.
In her months since competing at the Contest, Jerry Heil has been able to expand upon Teresa & Maria by extending the concept to an entire EP. Titled MARIA, it's a short collection of songs that plays with the iconography surrounding the religious figure referenced in Jerry's Eurovision song.
Jerry has also found the time to release two more singles; a solo effort called #AllEyesOnKids, along with a new collaboration with Volodymyr Dante, ГУБИ У ГУБАХ.
Jerry has now been teasing something else for the future! It's the forthcoming release of her brand-new album, and she's promised that if you get to go see her on tour, then you'll hear an exclusive preview of some of the songs.
And at the moment, there's ample opportunity to take her up on that offer. As well as Jerry currently being on a tour of Ukraine, she's also announced a European tour that will kick off in early 2025, with shows confirmed so far in Germany, Czechia, the United Kingdom, Slovakia and Poland.
And if you were quick on the mark this summer, you may well have been fortunate enough to see Jerry's delectable duet partner out on the road too.
alyona alyona got to go out around Europe and perform for her fans - new and old - throughout July and August.
