Welcome Reception: Pink champagne for the stars

25 May 2010 at 13:56 CEST

A rich buffet and pink champagne were already waiting for the stars, journalists and delegation members who entered the Oslo City Hall on a pink carpet on Sunday evening to celebrate the opening of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. By this time, everyone had rehearsed already twice and one could see many happy faces in the elegantly decorated location. Many of the female participants showed up in extraordinary dresses, and camera teams were trying hard to get the best shots and coolest statements from the favourites in this year's contest.

But the organisers had, of course, done their best to make this Welcome Reception a memorable event for everyone present: Bobbysocks, the first ever Norwegian act to win the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest, were there to perform, as well as Alexander Rybak, who brought Europe's Favourite TV Show to Oslo this year with a record number of votes. To add to the excitement, a male choir was performing excerpts of hits from previous Eurovision Song Contests.
