Last weekend saw national finals take place in Malta and Switzerland as well as heats in Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Sweden and Romania. Filming of the postcards for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is under way in Portugal. We went behind the scenes and caught up with Cesár Sampson, Austria's representative for 2018.
What's coming up?
Wednesday 7th February sees the United Kingdom select a song for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. The show will be presented by Mel Giedroyc and Eurovision 2015 winner Måns Zelmerlöw. Viewers in the UK can watch the show live from 20:30 CET. Six acts are in the running, you can listen to all the songs on the BBC website and on YouTube.
The 2018 edition of the Italian Song Contest, 'Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo', or as it is widely known, 'Sanremo', takes place this week. The show began on Tuesday 6th February and the final will take place on Saturday 10th February and the winner will be given the opportunity to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest. The Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, will also take place on Saturday night. Speaking of Saturday night, one of the participating artists, Sannie, better known internationally as Whigfield, had a huge hit in 1994 with the song Saturday Night. Check out the participants.
The first semi-final of A Dal 2018, Hungary's national selection for Eurovision will take place on Saturday 10th February. The following acts will participate:
