11 March 2012 at 03:06 CET

Starting at 18:30 CET today, the Moldovan TV public will have the right to choose the country's entry for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. The televoting result will account for 50% of the final scores, with the remaning 50% coming from an "expert" jury.

The following acts are in the running tonight (in order of appearance):

  1. Ruslan Taranu - Blanche
  2. Irina Tarasiuc & MC Gootsa - Save A Little Sunshine
  3. Pasha Parfeny - Lăutar
  4. Alexandru Manciu - If You Leave
  5. Paralela 47 - Arde
  6. Ksenya Nikora - You Better Rush
  7. Leria -  A Ray Of Sun
  8. Cristina Croitoru - Fight For Love
  9. Mariana Mihăilă - Live On Forever
  10. MC Mike & Human Place - Moll Girl

  21. INAYA - Lights

Twenty of the candidates were chosen by a jury out of all the proposals received during the open submission period. Nelly Ciobanu later withdrew from the line-up, making room for Akord and their song Live The Show.

The 21st entrant was chosen by a web voting, and the lucky one was Mariana Mihăilă - her song was written by an international team of songwriters. Another "international" entry tonight is Save A Little Sunshine by Irina Tarasiuc & MC Gootsa, which was written by the German Eurovision Song Contest veterans Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger.

Among the participants is Geta Burlacu (pictured), who represented Moldova in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest but failed to qualify for the Final.
