Watch: Sergej sings "Moj Svijet" for Montenegro

09 March 2014 at 22:37 CET

The lyrics and music for the song Moj Svijet (English version: My Love) are written by the Montenegrin representative at 2014 Eurovision Song Contest himself. However, in the team of authors are also Emina Jahović-Sandal, Vladan Popović and Marko Milatović. A film story in the form of music video that was aired for the first time tonight, is directed by Aleksandar Kerekeš.

Some of the scenes from the video were filmed in Karuč (city near Skadar lake) and Žabljak, Bar and Ulcinj.

A question from Eurovision.tv

During the LIVE broadcast, the host of the show Sabrija Vulić also asked a question that Eurovision.tv had for Sergej Ćetković! We were wondering (as many other Eurovision fans probably), what music styles Sergej and his team of authors used for his Eurovision entry. “It is a hard question, but I would say that Moj Svijet is mainly a pop song. Still, there are some folk elements too. But not necessarily from Montenegro. We played with different rhythms and the hardest task was to fit all the ideas in just three minutes", Segej answered in the show.

“I guess you could describe Moj Svijet as a Eurovision song, but at the same time it represents me and my style. I am really excited but I don’t have any fears, because I think that the audience will accept this song very well”, explains this year’s representative of Montenegro, who will perform in the First Semi-Final on the 6th of May in Copenhagen.

Talking about the video, Sergej revealed that “the main leitmotif in a song and the video is sun. A boy in this film story is actually trying to get the sun back in his life. That boy is me, some years ago of course. So, our song will have a strong message as Montenegro is the land of sun”.

Singing in English or Montenegrin?

Sergej’s song was recorded in Belgrade, Serbia and it has two versions, as it’s being recorded in both, Montenegrin and English language. However, he still hasn't made the final decision as to which one he will perform in Denmark.

Tonight’s show was broadcast LIVE from the Hotel Splendid in Bečići, Budva - a location also used as a set for one of the James Bond movies (Casino Royale, 2006).

Besides a premiere of the song, those who were following the LIVE webcast tonight (also on Eurovision.tv) at 21:15 CET (a day after Sergej's birthday), RTCG also aired some “Making-of” material during the broadcast. If you missed the show, you can still check it out in our Web TV section.
