Watch LIVE: the Ukrainian national final tonight!

06 March 2010 at 01:01 CET

Tonight, the Ukrainian national song selection will take place in the NTU Studio in Kyiv. In the last months Vasyl Lazarovych managed to assure the whole Ukraine of his original musical talent in the musical shows having been held on the local television.

Now it's time to decide which song the young singer will bring to the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in May. It depends upon the public in Ukraine and the professional jury which entry suits Vasyl's deep-sounding voice most. The winner's song will be decided by 50% local jury vote and 50% televote. When two songs score the same number of points, points given by the jury will prevail.

One entry in Ukrainian will compete with four songs in English. Here is a line-up of entries on tonight's show (composers and lyricists in brackets):

  • Adrenalin (music Dmitriy Klimashenko, lyrics Olga Yarynich, Ukraine)
  • I know (music Nikola Karajia, Romania, lyrics Brandon Stone,Germany)
  • Shine of your star (music and lyrics Ziga Pirnat, Slovenia and Brandon Stone,Germany)
  • Don’t wanna loose you (music and lyrics Claes Andreasson, Sweden)
  • I love you… (music Brandon Stone, lyrics Brandon Stone and Olga Yarynich, Germany, Ukraine)

Foreign participants in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest as well as Ukrainian stars and guests are invited to the national song selection to perform their entries and to support Vasyl Lazarovych!

You are welcome to watch and enjoy the Ukrainian national final with us on ESCTV, starting at 18:00 CET. Especially for the international viewers of the webcast, NTU will provide English commentary to the show!

Ukraine will participate in the first part of the Second Semi-Final of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, 27th of May.

Last year Ukraine finished 12th at the 54th Eurovision Song Contest, held in the Russian capital of Moscow. The entry, Be My Valentine! (Anti-Crisis Girl), was performed by Svetlana Loboda.
