Watch live - Serbia selects entry tonight
26 February 2011 at 03:30 CETIt is a family affair in Serbia this year, as Kornelije Kovac and his two daughters Aleksandra and Kristina were each invited by Serbian broadcaster RTS to commission a song for the competition, and thus compete against each other in tonight's show. Watch the show live here on Eurovision.tv from 21:00 CET.
Kornelije Kovac is no stranger to Europe's Favourite TV Show, having represented Yugoslavia in the 1974 contest in Brighton as part of the Korni Grupa with the song Moja Generacija which finished in 12th place. Aleksandra and Kristina are both established and well respected artists in their homeland.
The competing artists
Tonight will be the first opportunity for the Serbian public to hear the three chosen compositions from Kornelije, Aleksandra and Kristina. Kornelije has drafted in the group Breeze to perform his entry Ring Ring Ring.
Nina will perform the song Caroban composed by Kristina Kovac, and Aleksandra Kovac herself will perform her composition Idemo Dalje.
The show consists of a short documentary film about how they created the competing compositions, a film about the co-operation between composers and performers, and some history of the previous participation of Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Star studded guest list
There are many invited guests for this evenings show who will perform, not only Serbian artists but some famous names from both Croatia and FYR Macedonia. The invited singers are Nina Badric, Dado Topic, Aleksandra Radovic, Jelena Tomasevic, Karolina Goceva, Boris Novkovic, Tanja Banjanin, and Ana Stanic.
The invited groups are The Fifth Element and Grooving Land, whilst famous actors Milan Kalinic, Nikola Bulatovic, Mina Lazarevic and Sergej Trifunovic will also take part. All songs will be performed live, accompanied by a studio band and RTS ensemble.
