What to expect from Belgium's 'Eurosong' on Saturday
31 January 2025 at 10:10 CETHOW TO WATCH: Belgium's 'Eurosong' is starting at 20:55 CET on Saturday 1 February. If you're in Belgium, you can watch it via broadcaster VRT, but if you're living outside of Belgium, you'll be able to stream it live on the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel.
It's time for Belgium to choose its Basel hopeful! And so on Saturday night we'll get to watch as the country selects the song that will represent them at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest. They'll do so via Eurosong, with 8 songs in contention for earning that sought-after victory.

There'll be one man at the helm for the duration of the evening - Peter Van de Veire. And he's already enthusiastic about Belgium's chances at Eurovision success in May:
"The Eurovision Song Contest is the Olympics of music. You have three minutes to take Europe by storm. And I believe these eight talents can do it. They have an amazing voice, a rock-solid song and a lot of enthusiasm. They have convinced us and have raised the bar again this year. I am already sure that the winner will do exceptionally well in Basel."

Peter Van de Veire has got the task of presenting each of the 8 songs and then bringing us those all-important scores at the end of the end of the night.
Those scores will be coming from two sources - a public vote from viewers watching at home, and a jury vote from a 15-person panel of industry professionals. Both sets of scores will have a 50% weighting attached.

In January, ahead of the Eurosong final, broadcaster VRT aired two shows during which Belgian TV viewers were able to get to know the artists and watch a presentation of their songs.
That means that you can already check out the tunes, as well as learn about the singers behind them, right here:
LEEZ - Perfectly Imperfect
Lisa Van Rossem (from Turnhout, 31 years old) was perhaps best known as a backing singer and duet partner for her brother Metejoor. In 2015, she participated in the Belgian preselection Eurosong For Kids as one half of the duo Lila. And in 2016, the Belgian public rediscovered her thanks to The Voice of Flanders, where all the coaches turned around for her phenomenal interpretation of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing.
Lisa has been stepping out of her brother's shadow for some time now with her own project LEEZ and is doing so successfully: her song Toxic Lullaby was nominated for the Flemish music prize 'Zomerhit' last summer.
Le Manou - Fille à Papa
Manou Maerten (from Durbuy, 29 years old) is a singer, DJ, producer and songwriter. 15 years ago she took part in the Belgian preselection Junior Eurosong where she finished just behind winner Laura Omloop. In 2013 she was the crowd favourite in The Voice Belgique and finished in the Top 8.
After completing her Master's degree in Music Production at the Conservatory in Ghent, she is now fully committed to her own solo project, Le Manou, and making waves with catchy French-language pop/house. Together with her life partner Domien, she also runs her own studio complex, Durbuy Music Studios.
Jelle van Dael - Monster
Belgium knows Jelle van Dael (Opglabbeek, 34) mainly as the former frontwoman of Lasgo. In 2008, at the age of 18, she won the talent show Let's Go Lasgo and joined the iconic Belgian dance sensation. Together, they scored several hits, such as Gone and Out Of My Mind, and toured around the world with the songs. Recently, Jelle has been forging a solo career.
Mentissa - Désolée
Mentissa Aziza (from Denderleeuw, 24 years old) won the very first Flemish edition of The Voice Kids in 2014, but her musical career really took off 7 years later - after her participation in The Voice in France. Her first single Et Bam soon followed, immediately reaching more than 50 million streams in France. She was susbsequently nominated for the French awards Victoires de la Musique that year, and her debut album La Vingtaine became a hit. Another single from that record, Mamma Mia, also became a huge smash in Flanders.
Lenn - Air Balloon
Lenn (from Bonheiden, 25) is the stage name of Len Neefs, a young singer with a familiar surname. With singer Günther Neefs as a father and Louis Neefs as a grandfather (who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1969 with the song Jennifer Jennings), Lenn has big shoes to fill. But he doesn't let that scare him!
After studying film at RITCS, as well as applied psychology, he is now focusing fully on his music. He regularly posts his own quirky covers on Instagram and TikTok, showing off his unique voice to the world.
Stefanie Callebaut - Gloria
Stefanie Callebaut (from Kortrijk, 37 years old) is best known as the frontwoman of the Belgian ethereal pop sensation SX, and scored hits with Gold and Black Video, among others. With the idiosyncratic collective, she has performed on the stage of the biggest festivals and concert halls in Belgium. SX also became a household name abroad, but in 2022 the band stopped on a high after a successful acoustic tour. Stefanie Callebaut usually sings in English, but has also surprised her audience several times in the West Flemish dialect.
Red Sebastian - Strobe Lights
At the age of 14, Seppe Herreman (from Ghent, 25 years old) was a finalist in Belgium's Got Talent (2014). He remained passionate about music and continued his studies at the Conservatory of Ghent, where he received singing lessons from none other than Gustaph (Belgium’s artist at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023)!
At the Conservatory, he developed his alter ego: Red Sebastian. Seppe was a finalist in the 2024 TV show Sing Again, in which he stood out for both his fantastic vocal range and his remarkable outfits.
Grace - Pull Up
Grace Khuabi (from Amsterdam, 22 years old) was the winner of The Voice of Flanders in 2021. Since then, she has steadily been building her music career.
She scored her first gold record with the energetic Freedom, and also released a duet with Belgian singer Koen Wauters. She starred as Cindy in a Belgian production of the musical Hairspray in the spring of 2024.
The last time Belgium had a national final to select its Eurovision entry was in 2023, when Gustaph triumphed with Because Of You and gave his country a Top 10 finish at the Grand Final in Liverpool.
And Gustaph fans will be pleased to know that he'll be back at Eurosong on Saturday night! He's been announced as one of the three guest performers by VRT, along with Tom Dice (Belgium's Eurovision artist in 2010) and Emmelie de Forest (winner for Denmark in 2013).
At the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in 2024, Belgium was represented by Mustii and Before The Party's Over.
In Malmö, the song finished in 13th place at the Second Semi-Final.
