Following the success of the selection procedure in previous years, SRF again decided to kick off the search for its entry for Copenhagen by launching a web platform. Singers and songwriters have been asked to upload video clips of their potential entries, and this week, the submission process has ended.
On the quality and quantity of submissions, SRF stated: "We have received 159 videos, which is pretty good. We are very satisfied as the songs cover a wide range of styles. We are confident that we will find a great song within this selection which will take us to the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest."
Right now, you can already listen to all the entries submitted on the SRF Eurovision Platform. From November 4th-18th, you will also have the possibility to vote for your favourites.
The sum of the web votes, combined with the verdict of an expert jury (50/50 weighting), will decide on the nine qualifiers who will proceed to the next round: After November 30th, they will all have to perform in front of dedicated experts who, taking into account their live performing abilities, will pick three finalists.
Those three will participate in the Swiss national final, to be broadcast live from the Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen on February 1st. Along with them, two candidates picked by the French-language broadcaster RTS, and one more by the Italian-language broadcaster RSI will also compete for the ticket to Copenhagen.
