"You can expect a lot of excitement," Jimmie reveals enthusiastically. Valentina adds: "You will see a lot of energy and passion for music. We have to show all that energy and all our love. We’re really going to celebrate diversity. So let’s go on stage and rehearse!"
Spirit Of The Night is a pumpy disco tune, which is reflected well in light and visuals during the performance.
A big smile appears on Jimmie and Valentina’s faces when they talk about how their first rehearsal went. "We were flirting on stage,” Valentina said. The singer only has one important decision to make: What will she be wearing? She kept tight-lipped about her dress, but revealed that it will be very funky.
Valentina is a familiar face on the Eurovision Family, since she represented San Marino three times before — in 2012, 2013, 2013 and now for the fourth time in 2017: "I know roughly something about the competition because it’s my fourth time. But it’s still unbelievable to be here once again."
For this years' entry, the Sammarinese representatives work together with the well known Ralph Siegel. He wrote A Little Piece, performed by Nicole (Germany), who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982. He also wrote several top three songs: Theater, Johnny Blue, Journey to Jerusalem and We're Giving a Party.
"I just wanted a selfie with Ralph"
This year, Valentina brought Jimmie Wilson, who is born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States, and has never been to the Eurovision Song Contest before: "It’s very exciting. I had never heard of Eurovision before I moved to Germany, but here I am! I met Ralph Siegel at an event and I only wanted to get a selfie with him. When he asked what I do for a living, he said: Maybe I have something interesting for you."
