UPDATE: Kati Wolf for Hungary, watch video here!
12 March 2011 at 09:22 CETAfter taking a one-year-break from participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, Hungary is back again this year. Today the Hungarian entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest was presented on a press conference. Kati Wolf will wave the Hungarian flag in Düsseldorf, singing the pop song What About My Dreams, the lyrics of which will be in a mix of Hungarian and English. The Hungarian version of the song, Szerelem Miért Múlsz, has already been released in February.
"We have never experienced such a great cohesion and support as in the case of Kati. Fans and viewers, from Hungary and abroad, sent us hundreds of letters right after the release of the song that this is the one they want for Eurovision." - Attila Várkonyi, Executive Producer
Even though Kati Wolf's recent career started only with her participation in the Hungarian version of X Factor, she already had the first contacts with the fields of music and TV as a small child, when she sang the title track of the cartoon Vuk.
The song What About My Dreams was composed by Viktor Rakonczay and Gergő Rácz, who already represented Hungary in the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest as a part of the band V.I.P. Moreover, they wrote the Hungarian entry in 2008, Candlelight, performed by Csézy.
The Hungarian lyrics were written by Péter Geszti, a well-known musician and TV personality in Hungary. Johnny K. Palmer, who became famous after his participation in the Austrian talent show Starmania, contributed the English lyrics. He has Jamaican and Ethiopian roots and currently lives in Budapest.
"What About My Dreams brings back the atmosphere of the disco music of the 80s, in which I grew up and which I love, but the modern arrangement makes it up-to-date. This song represents the way I am, it is just like me and it makes me very happy that the audience likes it too! I am sure that all the 100 million viewers from across Europe and Hungary will love it too," says Kati Wolf about her entry.
