The organising committee of Vidbir (Ukraine’s national selection process for Eurovision) has decided that Kalush Orchestra will represent their nation at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin this May.
On hearing the news, lead singer Oleh Psiuk, was thrilled:
‘We are grateful to everyone that supported us in the final of the national selection for Eurovision 2022 and gave us the first place in the SMS voting. We promise to every Ukrainian that we will live up to your choice. In difficult times for our country, we will make our presence known in the whole world. So, we are ready to represent Ukraine to the entire Europe.’
The band finished second in the national final but won the public vote.
