Ukraine 2025: 'Vidbir' returns, with a public vote to finalise the lineup

Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne has revealed that the revere of Vidbir is set to be marked as appointment television once again during Eurovision national final season in 2025. 

In order to find Ukraine's song for Switzerland, a 10-song Vidbir final is slated for February. And while that will be the only live televised part of the process, that doesn't mean that Ukrainian viewers won't be called upon before then to cast their Vidbir votes.

Suspilne has stated that for Vidbir 2025, the broadcaster will be drawing up a long-list of up to 20 candidates for the national final, based on the songs submitted to them. These songs and their performers will then go through a thorough audition phase, after which Suspilne will publish a short-list of the 9 songs that they wish to compete in the Vidbir final in February. 

The remaining songs from Suspilne's initial selection will then be released, with the Ukrainian public invited to participate in an online vote to determine their favourite. The winner of this vote will secure that sought-after 10th slot at Vidbir 2025. 

Suspilne opened the application window on Tuesday 17 September, inviting candidates to send their song submissions between now and Sunday 10 November. Interested talents can find all of the details and fine print on the Suspilne website, and the submission form itself right here. 

At the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in May, Ukraine maintained their 100% qualification record for the Grand Final.
