Iceland have been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1986. Over the years they have enjoyed some success, and have come close to winning on two occasions, finishing in second place in the Final in 1999 in Jerusalem with Selma and the high energy All Out Of Luck, and again more recently in 2009 in Moscow with Yohanna's haunting ballad Is It True.
Last year, in Oslo Hera Björk qualified for the Final but could not emulate Yohanna's success a year earlier finishing in 19th place.
