Earlier today, Romanian Television TVR started the process of their national selection for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest by publishing its rules. These rules have changed from previous years, taking special care of the selection of songs, artists and their promotion, as well as the composition of the juries selecting them. About 40 of Romania's top composers have been asked to name the best voices all over the country, and a list with the nominated artists, along with a list of the composers, can be found on TVR's website. The composers are strongly recommended to consider these artists when submitting their songs.
The songs can be sent in until the 14th of January and on the 27th of January a specially-formed jury will select 12 to 15 songs for the final. If a song is considered to be good enough, the jury has the right to propose or change the artist for it. The final line-up will then be revealed on the 6th of February.
Semi-finals will be skipped this time with only one final taking place; the date of the show is the 6th of March. To determine who will represent Romania in Oslo both televoting and regional juries made of specialists will be used on a 50/50 basis. Something that will remain from previous years is the production of videoclips for the finalists' songs.
The coordinator for the whole project is Ms.Marina Almasan-Socaciu, committed to select "the best song performed by the best voice" . She started her duties by organising a meeting with experts such as composers, producers, and journalists that have had some involvement with the Eurovision Song Contest.
Romania reached the Final of Europe's favourite TV-show in 2009 thanks to Elena and The Balkan Girls.
