Trophy 2018 Thomas Hanses
Since 2008, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest has been awarded an undeniably iconic glass microphone trophy. The commemorative award has officially arrived at Lisbon’s Altice Arena, and on Saturday we will know who will be taking it home.

The official winner's trophy of the Eurovision Song Contest is a handmade piece of sandblasted glass in the shape of a microphone. The original design was created by Kjell Engman from the official trophy supplier Kosta Boda, who specialises in glass art. In keeping with tradition, the glass of this year's Eurovision trophy is engraved with the host city's name and the host country’s flag.

Due to its delicate nature, the trophy is handled with utmost care — only select members of the Eurovision team have access to it.

Those involved but not necessarily the face of the performance are not forgotten; the songwriters and composers of the winning entry receive smaller versions of the same trophy. There is also a 'mother trophy' with a generic Eurovision Song Contest logo, which finds its home in the reception area of the European Broadcasting Union's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
