Tonight: Slovak entry premiered on TV!

05 March 2011 at 01:32 CET

After conducting a lengthy procedure of quarter finals, semi finals and one grand final to select the Slovak entry for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest, the public broadcaster STV opted to choose the representative internally this year. Out of the applications received at the STV headquarters, an expert jury decided that TWiiNS would be the ideal representatives of the Central European country.

The identical twin sisters Daniela and Veronika Nízlová were born on 15th May 1986. After completing school in 2000, they were scouted by a major Slovakian record label and they were offered a recording deal. To date, they released four albums for which they were awarded three Golden and one Platinum records. After taking a break from recording music, the TWiiNS returned to the studio in April 2008 where they teamed up with noted American producer Jimmy Douglass.

In 2008, they also hit the Eurovision Song Contest stage for the first time, performing as backing vocalists for the Czech representative Tereza Kerndlova in Belgrade. In 2011, the TWiiNS moved to the USA and started working on the international version of their latest album, which is due to be released in winter.

Now the Eurovision Song Contest gives the TWiiNS another opportunity to return to Europe. Their song I'm Still Alive was written by an international team comprising Bryan Todd, Sandra Nordstrom, and Brano Jancich. You can already listen to the full studio version on youtube:

The first TV performance of I'm Still Alive can be watched tonight on the First Channel (Jednotka) of STV, starting at 20:35 CET.
