This year, the semi-finals of the 2009 Melodi Grand Prix have been met with approval from the Norwegian TV audience with over 1 million people tuning in for their quest to find a successful follow-up to Maria Haukaas Storeng and her song Hold On, Be Strong. Maria managed to secure a fantastic 5th place for her native country in last year's Eurovision Song Contest. This year, she chose to change jobs and is one of the presenters of the show tonight together with Per Sundnes.
Six of the eight songs participating qualified directly in the first three semi-finals, and the last two - Espen Hana and Publiners - were fortunate in the so called Last Chance round last Saturday and grabbed the last two tickets. The running order for the final was decided by the drawing of lots and looks like this:
- Espen Hana - Two Of A Kind
- Ovi - Seven Seconds
- Publiners - Te Stein
- Alexander Stenerud - Find My Girl
- Velvet Inc. - Tricky
- Alexander Rybak - Fairytale
- Thomas Brøndbo - Det Vart En Storm
- Tone Damli Aaberge - Butterflies
There will be two rounds of voting in tonight's Norwegian final. The first round will decide which four songs will qualify for the superfinal. Then, the televoters and 4 professional juries will have the tough task to decide about Norway's entry for Moscow in a second round of voting. Eurovision.tv will provide you with a webcast from start to finish - stay with us and watch Melodi Grand Prix tonight from 19:55h onwards.
