
Ticket to Tel Aviv: Meet Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl from Slovenia
30 April 2019 at 18:00 CESTOn 16 February, the Slovenian national selection EMA, or Evrovizijska Melodija, saw 10 finalists perform with the hope of becoming Slovenia's representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.
After a jury panel-chosen super-final, TV viewers overwhelmingly selected Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl to represent their country this year. The duo remains calm and confident as they approach the contest, believing that there is no challenge they could not face together.

Who are Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl?
Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl are a music duo that began their journey in the summer of 2017 when they recorded their first joint song Valovi which received several music awards in Slovenia. The singers first met on Instagram when Zala’s videos were shared with Gašper by a mutual friend.
Before their collaboration, both them were already involved in music; Zala playing covers and wrote her own songs, Gašper played the guitar and was involved in music production. The duo consider the strength of their project to be the ability to write and perform their songs to each other. The duo returned in 2018 with 2 new songs, each showcasing Gašper’s gentle electronic pop style and Zala's soft voice.

Slovenia at Eurovision 2018
Last year, Slovenia finished 22nd in the Grand Final. Lea Sirk received 64 points for her song Hvala, ne!
To date Slovenia's best placing in the Eurovision Song Contest is seventh, which it achieved in 1995 and 2001. Whilst Slovenia has not won the Eurovision Song Contest it did win Eurovision Choir of the Year in 2017.
