Ticket to Tel Aviv: Meet ZENA from Belarus
15 April 2019 at 18:00 CESTOn 7 March of this year, ZENA won the Belarusian national final for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with her performance of the song Like It.
Who is ZENA?
Born Zina Kupriyanovich on 17 September 2002 in Minsk, ZENA began performing as a young child and already has several awards to her name. Those include coming first at Slavianski Bazaar, a kids contest in Vitebsk in 2014 and she won a fellowship for the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus which supports talented young people. In 2016, ZENA became the voice of Moana, the lead female character in the Russian version of the Disney movie by the same name.
As she grew as an artist, ZENA developed a strong musical repertoire and has released more than 20 songs and 10 music videos. No stranger to the Eurovision stage, ZENA was a finalist at the 2015 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk and came in third place in 2016. Last year, she was asked to co-host the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Minsk once again.

ZENA's song
ZENA won the national selection for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The 16-year-old took first place with 69 points, 4 points ahead of second placed BLGN & Mirex. Sebastian Roos came third with 62 points. The 10 acts performing in the national final were picked from the 113 acts that had auditioned before.

Belarus at Eurovision 2018
Last year, Belarus did not make it past the first Semi-Final, ALEKSEEV received only 65 points for the performance of his song Forever which caused him to place 16th.
