This weekend: 6 new artists and 8 new songs for Rotterdam

With only 10 days to go before the submission deadline for artists and songs, this will be another busy weekend in the world of Eurovision national selections. Over the next 3 days, we can expect to find out the entries for Belarus, Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Moldova and Serbia and what Greece's Stefania and Romania's Roxen will sing.

With 27 artists now announced, there are just 14 more to go. As we did last week, we will provide you with extensive coverage on the latest news from Europe as announcements come in. For more national selection dates, see our calendar.

Friday 28 February

Belarus chooses a winner

20:00 CET - Natsionalniy Otbor 2020 (WATCH LIVE)

The final of Natsionalniy Otbor will see 12 artists take the stage to perform. The expected running order is:

Serbia kicks off Beovizija 2020

Over the course of the weekend, Serbia will hold both their semi-final shows as well as their final on Sunday. The first semi-final will see 12 artists take the stage, of which 6 will move on to the final. The result will be determined by a mix of jury and televote. The first 12 performers are:

The Estonian public decides

After 2 semi-finals, Estonia will choose their entry for Rotterdam from the Saku Suurhall in Tallinn. The winner will be selected over 2 rounds of voting; one that narrows the competition field to 3 remaining participants by way of jury and televote, and the other where a winner will be chosen exclusively by the Estonian public. The contestants are:

Moldovan public broadcaster TRM confirmed that the O melodie pentru Europa 2020 final will feature 20 acts selected based on a round of live auditions. The running order for this year’s show is:

Croatia selects in Dora 2020

Dora 2020 will take place on Saturday 29 February at the Marino Cvetković Sports Hall. The hall will be converted into a grand TV studio where the Croatian artist and song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 will be selected.

Söngvakeppnin comes to a close

Melodifestivalen artists get a second chance

20:00 CET - Melodifestivalen (WATCH LIVE)

In advance of the final on Saturday 7 March, Melodifestivalen will first air Andra Chansen, their second chance round, where 8 acts will compete in 4 duels for a place in the final.

The show will be hosted live from Eskilstuna and the 4 duels will be:

  • Duel 1: Anis don Demina and Ellen Benediktson & Simon Peyron
  • Duel 2: Malou Prytz and Paul Rey
  • Duel 3: Felix Sandman and Frida Öhrn
  • Duel 4: Mendez feat. Alvaro Estrella and Drängarna

Serbia fills their remaining final spots

Saturday's second semi-final will see another 12 new artists go head-to-head to compete for the 6 remaining spots in Sunday's final. The contenders will be:

Portugal's Festival da Canção goes live

On Saturday, another 8 acts will perform in Portugal. 4 of them will receive a ticket to the final of Festival da Canção, to be held in Elvas on Saturday 7 March.

Sunday 1 March

Romania chooses a song for Roxen

20:00 CET - Selecția Națională 2020 (WATCH LIVE)

Artists are not the only ones being chosen this weekend; Romania will also air Selecția Națională 2020 to select Roxen's participating song. Roxen was chosen to represent the country by way of internal selection, selected by broadcaster TVR with advice from an expert committee, who analyzed and identified artists based on vocal abilities, artistic performance, musical empathy and expressiveness.

Now, during the show, Roxen will perform 5 songs and the Romanian public will be able to weigh in on their favourite. The decision will be made by a 50/50 split of jury and public vote. In case of a tie, the public vote will prevail. The 5 potential songs for Rotterdam are:

Serbia's artist announced

21:00 CET - Beovizija 2020 (WATCH LIVE)

Sunday's show will be Beovizija's final wherein their Rotterdam delegate will be announced to the world. The 6 performers that advance from both semi-final rounds will take the stage together in the final battle for Serbia's ticket to Rotterdam.
