Theodor Andrei has won Romania’s ‘Selecția Națională’ with their song 'D.G.T. (Off and On)' - they’ll now begin preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

12 artists took to the stage on the evening of Saturday 11 February in this hotly contested pre-selection, with the winner decided by a public vote. 

With a points tally of 5,230, Theodor Andrei won the 2023 edition of Selecția Națională with the song D.G.T. (Off and On).

In 2022, Selecția Națională resulted in a win for the fan-favourite party-starter Llámame by WRS. He went on to represent Romania at the 66th Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. Llámame finished in 18th place in the Grand Final, with 65 points. 

Romania will be performing in the first half of the Second Semi-Final on Thursday 11 May, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. 

Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest

Romania joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and has participated in 22 Contests since, with 19 of those appearances being in the Grand Final.

Whilst Romania is yet to score their first victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, the country has finished in the Top 5 on 3 occasions. In 2005 and 2010, Romania finished third in the Grand Final which remains the best placing for the country to date.

In 2017, Romania scored its first top 10 place in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2010 with Yodel It by Ilinca ft. Alex Florea. In 2006, they hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest.
