Tension builds backstage

29 May 2010 at 22:08 CEST

Backstage the atmosphere is of excitement and nervousness ahead of tonight's Grand Final of the 55th Eurovision Song Contest.

The artists arrived in style, walking down the now infamous pink carpet into the arena, followed by royalty and politicians amongst the distinguished guests.

In the dressing room area, the artists and their teams were running around getting ready for the big show to start, many looking nervous and others extremely excited.

Belgium's Tom Dice told Eurovision.tv that he was "excited and feeling good" about his performance tonight, hoping that Me And My Guitar will reach the top spot.

Spain's Daniel Diges was is great from, smiling for the cameras and talking to the fans lined up to meet him. Backstage there was singing and he told us that he was "very much excited".

Ireland's Niamh Kavanagh told us that she was "excited and can't wait to get on stage". The same sentiment was felt by Safura from Azerbaijan who was "feeling great".

Ovi Martin from Romania was lapping up the attention also saying he was greatly looking forward to the show tonight.

Cyprus' Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders were very keen to talk to Eurovision.tv and had a very philosophical approach to the competition, saying that they "liked chips with HP BBQ sauce"... We assume that this was code for looking forward to the show.

The United Kingdom's Josh Dubovie told Eurovision.tv that he was "saving all his energy for this moment" and is now "going to let it all go on stage".

Lena from Germany was also in an excited move telling us that she "can't wait" to get on stage and strut her stuff for the viewers of Europe. Norway's Didrik Solli-Tangen also told us that he was "really excited". No one told us they were nervous though, which is encouraging!

Iceland's Hera Björk is also looking forward to the show saying, "I will do my best and enjoy it every step of the way". She also said she wasn't worried about the results anymore and was just there to have fun. Great attitude!

Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor, Svante Stockselius told Eurovision.tv he was looking forward and very "focused" ahead of tonight's show.
