Today public broadcaster SRF has announced how the Swiss entry for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be chosen. Starting from September 28th, candidates will be able to upload their potential songs on an online platform. The final decision who will represent the Central European country in Stockholm will be taken in a live show, to be broadcast on February 13th from Kreuzlingen.

German-language public broadcaster SRF has announced their plans for the Swiss national selection for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. Just like this year, SRF jointly with Rumantsch-language broadcaster RTR invites candidates to upload video clips of their potential entries on the official Swiss online platform from September 28th until October 26th.

After the submission period both an expert jury and interested online users will cast their votes, selecting the best ten acts to proceed to the next stage of the national selection.

The Expert Check

In a second phase, the ten selected candidates will be joined by six candidates representing Swiss-French broadcaster RTS and three chosen by Swiss-Italian broadcaster RSI. The 19 acts will perform live in front of an expert team who will choose the six best ones, judging their live abilities, singing qualities and stage presence.

Live Show on February 13th

The six finalists will present their respective entries as well as one additional cover version in a live show, to be broadcast from the Bodensee Arena in Kreuzlingen on February 13th, 2016. A joint 50/50 vote of an expert jury and the TV viewers will decide who will be flying the Swiss flag on stage in Stockholm during the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
