Sweden: two more finalists in Melodifestivalen

The Swedish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen 2016, just held its second semi-final in Malmö. Seven more songs fought for two further places in the final which went to David Lindgren and Wiktoria.

The venue of the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, Malmö Arena, hosted the second semi-final of the popular Melodifestivalen, the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. The presenter was Gina Dirawi.
After the lines were closed the presenters announced the results of the second semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2016. These two were the winners and thus proceed to the final in Stockholm:
  • David Lindgren - We Are Your Tomorrow
  • Wiktoria - Save Me
Two further songs will get a second chance in the so-called Andra Chansen round:
  • Molly Pettersson Hammar - Hunger 
  • Isa - I Will Wait

These are the seven songs that took part in tonight's second semi-final, alongside their final placing:
  1. David Lindgren - We Are Your Tomorrow (final) (Anderz Wrethov, Sharon Vaughn, Gustav Efraimsson)
  2. Victor och Natten - 100% (6th) (Dag Lundberg, Melker, Jesper Lundh)
  3. Molly Pettersson Hammar - Hunger (Andra chansen) (Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Anton Hård af Segerstad, Molly Pettersson Hammar)
  4. Isa - I Will Wait (Andra chansen) (Anton Hård af Segerstad, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Nikki Flores)
  5. Krista Siegfrids - Faller 5th (Krista Siegfrids, Gabriel Alares, Magnus Wallin, Gustaf Svenungsson)
  6. Patrik Isaksson, Tommy Nilsson & Uno Svenningsson - Håll mitt hjärta hårt (7th) (Patrik Isaksson, Tommy Nilsson, Uno Svenningsson)
  7. Wiktoria - Save Me (final) (Jens Siverstedt, Lauren Dyson, Jonas Wallin)
The winner of the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest Charlotte Perrelli -formerly Nilsson- performed as an interval act.
The top two songs in the semi-final, chosen by televoting and app voting, qualified for the final in Stockholm on the 12th of March. The second chance round Andra Chansen will be held one week before on the 5th of March.
