Sweden prepares first preview concert

26 April 2009 at 03:59 CEST

For the first time, a major Eurovision Song Contest preview concert is arranged in Sweden. The event, taking place in Stockholm on the upcoming Wednesday, features four acts from the 2009 contest. The performers on stage will be Arash och AySel (Azerbaijan), Jade Ewen (United Kingdom), Soraya (Spain) and Svetlana Loboda (Ukraine).

Apart from performing at the event, all of the artists come to Stockholm as part of their ongoing promotional tours for the Eurovision Song Contest. They will be available for interviews for the media, a position in which they will be accompanied by Norway’s Alexander Rybak, visiting Stockholm during daytime on Wednesday.

Two of the performing international acts have connections to Sweden. For Azerbaijan, the artist Arash has lived in Sweden since the age of 10, and for Spain, the music of entry La Noche Es Para Mi is composed by Swedish Jason Gill, Irini Michas and Dimitri Stassos.

Along with the international stars, the preview concert will also feature several artists known from the Swedish national selection Melodifestivalen. The lineup will include Sofia Berntson (Alla, 2009, and Hypnotized, 2007), Jonathan Fagerlund (Welcome To My Life, 2009), Gabriel Fors from the group Blond (Bara Hon Älskar Mig, the Swedish entry for the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest) and Andrés Esteche (Olé, Olé, 2004, and Just Like A Boomerang, 2003).

The preview concert will take place at Trädgården, located at the address Fleminggatan 2 in Stockholm. The doors open at 21:00 CET. Eurovision.tv will be present at the event and is reporting from the action later in the week.
