These were the candidates tonight in Leksand:
  • Youngblood - Youngblood
  • Maria BenHajji - I Mina Drömmar (In My Dreams) - placed 8th
  • Mattias Andréasson - Förlåt Mig (Forgive Me)
  • Love Generation - Just A Little Bit - placed 6th
  • Carolina Wallin Pérez - Sanningen (The Truth) - placed 7th
  • Andreas Johnson - Lovelight
  • Molly Sandén - Why Am I Crying
  • Björn Ranelid feat. Sara Li - Mirakel (Miracle)
The show got off to a powerful start with the band Youngblood, put together by Fredrik Kempe who won three out of the last four Melodifestivalen as a composer. Soon the tempo was lowered with the winner of the webjoker competition, I Mina Drömmar, sang by Maria BenHajji surrounded by candles. Mattias is "M" from E.M.D. which came third in 2009 with Baby Goodbye; this year he sang his own Förlåt Mig. Red One's girl band Love Generation are back as a trio after their debut last year with Dance Alone.
Song number five Sanningar was performed by a contest debutant, Carolina Wallin Pérez and she was followed by the most experienced artist in this semi-final, Andreas Johnson who sang Lovelight this year, for example he came 3rd in 2006, 2nd in 2007 and 6th in 2010. Molly Sandén is no stranger to Eurovision audiences as she came 3rd when she represented Sweden at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 with her own Det Finaste Någon Kan Få. And the most unique entry came with song eight Mirakel with the duet made by popular writer Björn Ranelid and singer Sara Li.
Five of the songs went trough to the second round of voting (finalists in bold):
  • Andreas Johnson - Lovelight
  • Mattias Andréasson - Förlåt Mig (Forgive Me) (5th)
  • Molly Sandén - Why Am I Crying
  • Youngbloog - Youngblood
  • Björn Ranelid feat. Sara Li - Mirakel (Miracle)
After an interval act by Sirqus Alfon performing Roger Pontare's Silverland, it was announced that Molly Sandén and Björn Ranelid with Sara Li go the final in Globen and the following two songs proceed to the second chance round, Andra Chansen, on the 3rd of March:
  • Youngblood - Youngblood
  • Andreas Johnson - Lovelight
The fourth and last semi-final takes place next Saturday 25th of February in Malmö with eight new acts trying to represent Sweden in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku.
