In tonight's final, a mix of Melodifestivalen veterans and newcomers took part. Darin, Timoteij, Salem Al Fakir, Anna Bergendahl and Eric Saade were all new to the festival while the others had at least participated once before. One of them, Jessica Andersson, had actually represented Sweden before as one half of the duo Fame which reached a respectable 5th place in the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga.
The decision in tonight's Melodifestivalen was taken by five regional Swedish juries, six international juries from Ireland, France, Norway, Greece, Serbia and Russia and televote. Altogether, 1,7 million televotes had been cast with the winner - Anna Bergendahl - getting 363546 of them.
The 10 songs competing in tonight's final were the following (winner in bold)
  • Darin - You're Out Of My Life
  • Pernilla Wahlgren - Jag Vill Om Du Vågar
  • Andreas Johnson - We Can Work It Out
  • Timoteij - Kom
  • Peter Jöback - Hollow
  • Ola - Unstoppable
  • Jessica Andersson - I Did it For Love
  • Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking
  • Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life
  • Eric Saade - Manboy
The hosts of tonight's show were Christine Meltzer, Måns Zelmerlöw and popular Hollywood actor Dolph Lundgren. The interval act consisted of a "battle" between Norway and Sweden with lots of former Eurovision Song Contest participants from those two countries singing parts of their songs, like the 1985 winners Bobbysocks, the Norwegian participants in 2005, Wig Wam, and Swedish group One More Time who secured a third place for their native country in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest. Get to know the winner below, in our video!
Sweden reached the final of last year's Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow where Malena Ernman's La Voix was ultimately 21st.
