The Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in the magnificent Blue Hall of Stockholm's City Hall on Sunday 8th May. Prior to this, as is now customary, accredited press and fans will be able to attend the Red Carpet Event. A 94-metre long Red Carpet will be placed adjacent to the Euroclub which is located at the wharf on the waterfront outside the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Eurovision Song Contest hosts Måns Zelmerlow and Petra Mede will start the procession before making way for the 43 participating delegations.

The Opening Ceremony is usually one of the most anticipated moments in the event weeks of the Eurovision Song Contest. All participants will be welcomed by the Mayor of Stockholm, Karin Wanngård as well as Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest and Martin Österdahl, Executive Producer of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Members of each delegation will be transported to the Euroclub first, walk along the Red Carpet then transported to Stockholm's City Hall for the Opening Ceremony. Afterwards the delegations will return to the Euroclub for the Official After Party!

The Opening Ceremony will be streamed live on eurovision.tv from 19:00 CET on Sunday 8th May.
