Spanish selection kicks off

16 November 2010 at 00:50 CET

From today on until the 12th of December the composers can upload their songs on TVE's website as well as the performers, who can upload their videos performing songs from the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. Then the choice of artist separates from the song selection in two simultaneous processes.

The performers can not only join the online casting but also two presential ones to be held in Madrid and Barcelona on the 25th and the 29th of November respectively. All the shortlisted artists will have to pass a final casting judged by an expert committee of TVE to decide who will go on through the televised semi-finals.

Besides this, TVE could invite other established singers directly to the semifinals.

A favourite to represent Spain

Today it was featured on several media the result of a poll organised by the unofficial site in Spanish, eurovision-spain.com, to determine the favourite artist to represent Spain in Dusseldorf. On top of that list stands Operacion Triunfo contestant Chenoa, who was a backing singer for Rosa in 2002 when the contest was held in Tallin and who has enjoyed a successful singing career since then.

Spain looks for a thrid victory in Europe's favourite Tv-show after they won the competition in 1968 and 1969 with two female solo singers, Massiel and Salome.
