Today we woke up with the sad news of the passing of a legend in Spanish television, José María Iñigo. The Eurovision Song Contest was graced with his talent, as José María was the commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest for the last seven years, sharing the commentary booth alongside our editor Víctor Escudero, and since 2015 also with journalist Julia Varela. Iñigo had already been part of the Spanish delegation on several occasions in the past, either as part of the press or radio commentator, including the year when Spain first won the contest in 1968, exactly fifty years ago. His contributions in the field of entertainment in the seventies and eighties, when he was the leading figure in Spanish television, deserve a special mention. One of the most recognizable voices for the Spanish public is gone, but his legacy will always remain. Eurovision.tv would like send our condolences to José María's family and loved ones.
