Today we woke up with the sad news of the passing of Spanish television legend José María Iñigo. Iñigo, one of Spain's most talented and well-known TV personalities, was the country's Eurovision commentator for the last seven years, sharing the commentary booth alongside Eurovision.tv editor Victor Escudero, and since 2015 with journalist Julia Varela as well.

Iñigo had already been part of the Spanish Eurovision delegation on several occasions in the past, either as journalist or radio commentator, including the year when Spain won the contest for the first time in 1968, exactly fifty years ago.
His contributions in the field of entertainment in the seventies and eighties, when he was the leading figure in Spanish television, deserve special recognition. One of Spain's most recognisable voices is gone, but his legacy will remain.
Iñigo, who already stepped down as Eurovision commentator earlier this year, was 75 years old.
On behalf of the Eurovision Family we would like to send our condolences to José María's loved ones and colleagues.
