TVE told at a press conference that they were very pleased with the selection in 2008, calling it "the turning point in television last year". That is the reason they will be using MySpace once again. All Spanish citizens can send in their entries at the website www.myspace.com/eurovision2009 until 17th of December.
Then, starting from 19th of December until the same date in January, a mixed jury-public voting will take place at RTVE.es website. The names of the 50 semi-finalists will be revealed the following day. There will be there semi-finals to be held in February, the dates are yet to be set and confirmed.
At the same time TVE will also launch a selection of the 5th jury member who will be in the jury of the Eurovision Song Contest. The willing will have to submit their profile at MySpace, have to be connected to the music industry and cannot have any connection to the submitted acts.
Last year the Spanish selection was won by Rodolfo Chikilicuatre who got the 16th place in Belgrade at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.
