Spanish broadcaster RTVE has revealed they have received a total of 876 songs for their upcoming selection competition 'Benidorm Fest', with 394 of those being submitted by record labels - highlighting a reinvigorated interest in the process, thanks in no small part to Chanel’s sensational performance in Turin.
RTVE indicated that a number of familiar faces sent in songs, with well-known names from Eurovision, Spain’s alternative music scene, and TikTok, making submissions alongside new artists and established performers from the ‘90s and '00s.
Who will make it through to the shows in January and February? The task of sorting through the entries now begins.
Benidorm Fest returns in January 2023, with tickets for the week of fun in the sun going on general sale in November.
