Spain decides for Belgrade tonight

08 March 2008 at 19:47 CET

Internet voters picked five of the submitted entries that will take part in tonights final. Another five songs were picked by an expert jury. Through televoting, the Spanish audience will decide who will represent their country at the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Serbia.

Participants had to be able to prove that they have been living in Spain for at least two years in order to enter the competition. Their song could be written in Spanish-Castilian, Catalan, Basque and Galician and participants are allowed have parts sung in any of the languages of the participating countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Thus, Spain is most likely to perform a song in one of its own languages in Belgrade.

The songs

  • Rodolfo Chikilicuatre - Baila El Chiki Chiki
  • La Casa Azul - La Revolución
  • SexualArkaitz - Un Olé
  • Coral - Todo Está En Tu Mente
  • Bizarre - Si Pudiera
  • Ell*as -100x100
  • Lorena C - Piensa Gay
  • Marzok Mangui- Caramelo
  • D-vine- I Do You
  • Innata- Me Encantada Bailar

Topping the polls is Rodolfo Chikilicuatre and his Baila El Chiki Chiki. The surreal song is only one and a half minute long and would easily fit in the category gimmicks.

The Spanish audience can already vote since Tuesday, by phone and SMS. The voting ends during the show, which starts at 22:30 CET. The show will be hosted by showbizz alrounder Raffaella Carrà, who is of Italian origin.
