After a competition amongst seven Portuguese composers, RTP chose Luís Figueiredo to produce the official soundtrack of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. And coincidentally, Figueiredo is not new to the Eurovision community... If you love a good orchestral piece, you will surely appreciate this one!

Host Broadcaster RTP invited seven Portuguese composers from different musical areas to create an original soundtrack based on the narrative of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest and its visual identity. The soundtrack had to consist of various musical pieces, adapted both to the needs of the television shows as well the several parallel events taking place across Lisbon.

From the proposals received, the one the production team considered most appropriate was presented by musician Luís Figueiredo who, coincidentally, was also the arranger of Salvador Sobral's Amar Pelos Dois, the song that brought Portugal its first ever Eurovision victory.

The main theme created for this edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will have several declinations, which you will be able to hear during the three live shows in May.

Luís Figueiredo is the author, director and music producer of the soundtrack, which was performed by the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, conducted by António Lourenço. Rui Guerreiro and Luís Figueiredo recorded and mixed the tune, all under supervision of Viagens a Marte for RTP.
