Songwriters revealed for 60th Festival da Canção

There are many Eurovision Song Contest anniversaries being celebrated in 2024, and one of them is 60 years of Portugal’s ‘Festival da Canção’.

Portuguese broadcaster RTP has revealed the 20 songwriters taking part in this special season of the competition; 14 were invited by RTP, while 6 were selected from a public submission process that began in August. 

The songs and artists will be revealed at a later date, with the winning entry representing Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2024.

 The winning songwriter will be hoping to build on recent Portuguese successes, and ultimately emulate Salvador Sobral’s victory in 2017.

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden on Tuesday 7 May (First Semi-Final), Thursday 9 May (Second Semi-Final) and Saturday 11 May (Grand Final) 2024.
