Slovenia: ‘EMA 2022’ dates, hosts and artists confirmed 🇸🇮

• EMA FREŠ Final: Friday 28 January (RTV’s initiative to find up-and-coming artists)
• EMA 2022 Semi-Final 1: Saturday 5 February at 20:00 on TV SLO 1
• EMA 2022 Semi-Final 2: Saturday 12 February at 20:00 on TV SLO 1
• EMA 2022 Grand Final: Saturday 19 February at 20:00 on TV SLO 1

The shows will be used to determine the Slovenian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest is Turin, this May.

Melani Mekicar and Bojan Cvjetićanin will host the EMA 2022 shows.

‘It is an infinite honor for me and Bojan to be entrusted with the management of such a large and important festival as EMA 2022. There’s not a year that I haven’t watched the Eurovision Song Contest, so this is a really special moment for me.

This year, I think the EMA is very special, because there will be a lot of young, fresh musicians, but they take the performance very seriously, ’ said Melani.

Bojan added: ‘EMA and the Eurovision Song Contest have always been one such mini holiday for me, and at a time when we are surrounded by bad news and negative energy prevails, we urgently need a good dose of fun. I hope that viewers will be able to sit in front of TV screens and enjoy music.’

Both semi-finals will each see 8 established artists alongside two winners of EMA FREŠ compete for one of 6 spots in the Grand Final where a total of 12 acts will battle it out for the ticket to Turin.

In each semi-final, 3 qualifiers will be determined by televote and 3 by jury. In the final on Saturday 19 February, the overall winner will be determined by a combination of televote and the vote of five juries split in a 50/50 ratio.
