We've got another Eurovision national final to look forward to in the new year!

For the first time since 2022, Slovenia will be using a pre-selection to determine the song and artist that will be taking the Slovenian flag on its relatively short trip across to Basel in May 2025.

On Monday 28 October, broadcaster RTVSLO announced that it would be staging a comeback for the beloved national final Evrovizijska Melodija - or EMA as it's become widely known as. And we already have a date for the special occasion, plus some details!

The song submission window is now open, and will remain so until 25 November.

Jury members selected by the broadcaster will be looking for a delectable dozen - that's 12 songs to compete in the one-night national final, EMA 2025.

Saturday 1 February is the date to pop into your diaries. On the night, once all 12 entries have been performed, five juries - each one containing five individuals - will vote on a Top 2.

RTVSLO has already revealed the five sectors that the jury members will be plucked from. We'll have a jury of professionals from the music industry, another jury from the television industry, and a third jury from the radio industry.

A fourth jury will be made up of OGAE (Eurovision fan club) Slovenia members, while a fifth will have names from the Eurovision-specific online press and influencer community.

Once a Top 2 has been decided, voting will open once more for this 'superfinal'. But this time, it'll be just the Slovenian TV viewers watching at home that will get to pick their favourite.

The winner will go on to represent Slovenia at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.

The song will also have the bonus honour of becoming the 30th entry to compete for Slovenia at the Contest.
