Slovakia: National selection participants announced

In 2009, the Slovak public broadcaster STV returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after ten years of absence. A successful system was implemented for the national selection, including several semi-finals and a final show, which led to high ratings. Therefore, the same system will be used for 2010 as well, including only minor changes: This time, songs with English lyrics were permitted in the contest as well, whereas last year only songs in Slovak could be entered. This is the list of the 60 national selection participants and 6 alternate entries, which will move up to one of the qualifying heats only if an entry gets disqualified or is withdrawn:

Among the participants is Marcel Palonder, who represented Slovakia in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest with Kým Nás Máš, reaching the 18th place. Furthermore, he was one of the jury members in the Slovak national final in 2009.

A total of six qualifying rounds will be held, with each of them including ten participants. The heats will take place on the following dates:

• 22nd of January
• 24th of January
• 29th of January
• 31st of January
• 5th of February
• 7th of February

The qualyfing acts will gain the right to take part in one of the semi-finals, to be held on the 14th and 21st of February respectively. The final of the Slovak national selection will take place on the 28th of February in Bratislava. Stay with us for more news on this topic!
