Slovakia: Internal selection for Düsseldorf

In both 2009 and 2010, the Slovak national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest included one final and several semi- and quarter-finals. This year, the national public broadcaster RTVS is trying a different approach: An expert jury will choose the representative for Düsseldorf internally. The result and, thus, the lucky artist who will get to represent Slovakia in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, will be announced on February 18th.

Slovakia was drawn to participate in the first half of the Second Semi-Final, to take place on May 12th. Last year, Kristina represented Slovakia in Oslo with an energetic performance of her ethnic-sounding song Horehronie, but failed to qualify for the Final.
