Slovakia: A National Final with Televoting

Želmíra Habánová, press spokesperson of the Slovak national broadcaster STV, has confirmed that Slovakia will be represented in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. The Slovak entry is to be chosen in a public national selection, where the singer and song to represent the country in Moscow will be picked by televoting. Further details on the rules and requirements to participate and on details of the selection procedure will be revealed soon.

Slovakia has taken part in the Eurovision Song Contest three times already, for the last time in 1998. The best placing to date was reached by Marcel Palonder and his song Kým nás máš - he came 18th in the 1996 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo.
