Eurovision winner returning
With the Swedish-language ballad Vaken I En Dröm, the Norwegian-Swedish Elisabeth Andreassen returned to Melodifestivalen tonight, but finished in the eight and last position. She won the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest representing Norway, and scored a second place in 1996, again for Norway. She also has several tries in the Swedish national selections on the track record, last time in Melodifestivalen 2002. As part of the duo Chips, she won Melodifestivalen 1982 and scored an 8th place for Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Curious of the big Contest
Sanna Nielsen is another singer with a long history in Melodifestivalen. Her song this evening, I'm In Love, was her sixth entry in the contest since 2001. The 26-year-old singer from Edenryd in the south of Sweden has still to win and go to the Eurovision Song Contest. Her closest attempt to date is the ballad Empty Room, scoring a second place in 2008.
Advancing to the Eurovision Song Contest is an appealing though to Sanna Nielsen.
"I'm a bit curious of the Eurovision Song Contest, so if that would happen, I would be very happy and do my best to give Sweden a great result," she says to Eurovision.tv.
In love with her song
Her entry for 2011, I'm in Love, is co-written by Bobby Ljunggren and Thomas G:son, two composers with several previous entries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Sanna Nielsen seems to be in love with the song.
"I want to give my fans a good show and especially a good song. This is about joy and love, and I'm so grateful for the life that I have today. I live it 100 %, so I just want people to see how happy I am – and hopefully then they will be as happy as I am."
