Sakis Rouvas to represent Greece!

In 2004, in Istanbul, the Greek singer represented his country successfully with Shake It, and reached a third place. Months later, he performed at the closing ceremony of ย the Olympic Games. In 2006, when Athens hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, Rouvas presented the competition together with Maria Menounos.ย 

Weeks ago, Rouvas released his new single Kai Se Thelo as a digital single. The song, composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos, has become a dance hit and has reached #1 on the Greek airplay charts. The 36-year old pop idol expressed his wish to represent Greece once again during a radio show, last month. This week, Greek public broadcaster ERT confirmed in national media and to Eurovision.tv that Sakis Rouvas will again represent the nation at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

Greece is the first country to publically announce its 2009 Eurovision Song Contest representative. A song will be chosen at a later stage, and no further details have been released.
