The Russian entry for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, You Are The Only One, was presented for the first time on TV tonight. Sergey Lazarev, one of the biggest stars in Russia, will represent his country in Stockholm in May.

The music of You Are The Only One was composed by Philip Kirkorov and Dimitris Kontopoulos, who have been involved in several Eurovision Song Contest entries in the past. Among others they penned the Russian entry in 2014, Shine by the Tolmachevy Sisters. The lyrics of their song for Sergey Lazarev were written by John Ballard and Ralph Charlie Fahel. Sergey Lazarev was selected internally by public broadcaster RTR.

"I think the song has incredible magnetism and power", Sergey said. "When I heard it for the first time in the studio, I was amazed by its emotional glow, energy and significance. This song influenced my decision to accept the offer to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest".

Philipp Kirkorov, stated: "The song was done by a team of the extremely talented people, it fits the music format of Eurovision perfectly and at the same time it has exceptional energy and bright individuality".

Video director Konstantin Cherepkov worked with Sergey before (videos In the Heart, It is All Her and others). The main heroine of the video, Vladislava Evtushenko, was the Russian participant of Miss Universe 2015. These is almost no editing editing in the video since everything was filmed with long scenes, giving the viewer a feeling that the video was made in real time.

"The video production was a relatively long process, it was important to catch the right moment in 3D projection, change the costume in the moment when the camera was not directed on me, but on my partner in the video – Vladislava" said Sergey. "Before the takes, we rehearsed the movements of the cameras, changes of lighting and costumes, performances of dancers and firemen. Basically, any mistake meant that we started filming from the very beginning, as a result, we have a very exciting video. This was my first experience of filming techniques with these and I really hope the viewers will like and appreciate our work", he added.

Sergey Lazarev: "It is a difficult period for everyone, and music should be a way out"

What are the three most interesting aspects about your entry?

"I don't want to reveal any details about the song. The only thing I would like to say is that the message of the song is very positive. It is a difficult period for everyone and I believe that music should be a way out for the audience and this is what we have tried to do with our entry."

What are the three most impressive facts about you?

"I don't feel comfortable talking about myself but I could tell you the three most positive things that colleagues and friends have told me about me. The first is that I always have a positive will towards people, I am a hard worker and finally I am very open minded, never criticising others for their personal choices."

Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?

"I think it is a big honour for every artist to represent his country. This is the most important thing for me and I will do my best to represent Russia in the best possible way."
