Russia revealed its rules for the national selection

The selection process consists of two phases. During the first round which is open till February, singers and songwriters are welcome to apply for the participation in the national selection. All submitted applications will be analyzed and examined by an expert jury. The second round begins with the announcement of the best 25 entries that will be chosen by a professional jury for the Russian national Final. The running order of competing acts will be drawn by lot.

The Russian national Final is scheduled to take place on the 26th of February and will be broadcast live. During that show, viewers in Russia will be able to give their voices for their favourite candidate by televoting, SMS voting and web voting. Voting will start after the first entry and will be closed after 10 minutes after the last entry. The winning act will be chosen by televoting, SMS voting, web voting (50%) and a professional jury (50%). The winner will have to sign a three-year contract with the local broadcaster RTR.

In the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, Russia was represented by Alexej Vorobjov who came 16th in the Final with his song Get You.
