The song is written by the famous American songwriter and producer Rudy Pérez, who won four Grammies himself and who delivered hits to Christina Aguilera, Julio Iglesias, Il Divo and Beyoncé. Later this year, Dima Bilan will release a Spanish album under the Universal label.

According to Kudrevich, Vice President of the Russian fan club, Por Qué Te Amo is a mid-tempo song: "It's a tearful ballad - very strong, energetic and powerful," he says. Bilan himself believes that this song is exactly what Europe wants this year. Hoping to represent the Russian colours again at the 2008 running of the Eurovision Song Contest, the singer is currently preparing a "spectacular" act.

The Russian national selection takes part on the 9th of March, held by RTR. The winner will be defined by a jury and televoting.
